[John Robb's Radio Weblog] WSJ.  The lawsuit against idealab is growing.   Investors want their money back claiming financial mismanagement.

>>>The plaintiffs in the case are part of a group that put about $1 billion in February 2000 into idealab.  The suit against idealab was originally filed last month on the heels of an offer by idealab to buy out investors for 10 cents on the dollar. Only about 10% of investors sold shares back to idealab, according to the company. Many investors complained that the offer was too low.<<<  It sounds like they are trying to buy-out investors with their own money!  Hey!

>>>According to the complaint, the board raised Mr. Gross's salary and bonus to $766,667 in fiscal 2002 from $250,000 in fiscal 2000 and increased Ms. Goodstein's salary and bonus to $616,667 in fiscal 2002 from $190,000 in fiscal 2000.  Mike Hennigan, a lawyer representing idealab, said the salary increases were made to bring Ms. Goodstein's and Mr. Gross's compensations in line with industry norms. <<<  Perhaps these are industry norms for Fortune 500 execs, but the management of a failing Internet incubator hardly qualifies.  At least the execs at most $1 b VC funds have a track record of success to fall back on as justification for their salaries.
