[Scripting News] A picture of Evan Williams.Evan Williams of Blogger states his professional goal for the next six months. "Make my company/Blogger not dependent on me." Amen to that. A friend shared an idea on this. You don't actually have a business until you can take a sustained break and work (and revenue) continues. This is what every entrepreneur wants, and it's elusive. It seems that the economics only work if you're constantly feeding the machine, personally.

[kuro5hin.org] The Y Chromosome and Personal Genetic Archaeology. It cost me less than $300 to discover the geographic distribution my patrilineal kin in Europe. I obtained all this personal genetic archaeological information by swabbing the inside of my mouth for a sample of my DNA, sending it to Oxford with a check, waiting for 3 months for my Y chromosome "haplotype" results, and then submitting a query form on a haplogroup database web page after filling in 5 blanks with the test results.

[Slashdot] Rotor: Shared Source CLI So Microsoft says they have a shared source implementation of their Common Language Infrastructure -- their equivalent of Java's virtual machine.   The interesting thing is that they have a layer of abstraction intended to make porting different OS easy.  Guess they have their sites set on Java... everywhere.
